Shaping Antigua’s Future as a Premier Cruise Homeport

GPH signed a 30-year (with an option to extend for 10 more years) concession agreement with the Antigua Barbuda Port Authority and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in 2019 and is implementing an investment program exceeding US$80 million. As part of this transformative effort, the construction of a new Oasis-capable mega pier of approximately 1,198 feet in length was completed by GPH in 2020, despite challenges created by the COVID pandemic. GPH has successfully positioned Antigua as a homeport, with initial projections of 120,000 passengers upon completion of the new terminal building. GPH also secured traffic commitments from leading cruise lines to grow the summer traffic, which is lacking in the Eastern Caribbean due to seasonality. GPH is expected to break ground to build a new upland development at the port featuring a total of 150,000 sq. ft. space dedicated to retail, food and beverage, recreation and homeport terminal facilities at the port in Q1 2025.
