Redefining Nassau’s Cruise Experience with Record-Breaking Growth
Nassau, the world’s busiest port-of-call, is set to welcome over 5.6 million passengers by the end of 2024, with expectations to reach 6.2 million in 2025 and over 6.5 million annually in the near term. In 2018, GPH won the RFP to develop and operate Nassau Cruise Port, committing at least US$250 million to transform the waterfront into a world-class facility. To date, around US$300 million has been invested, delivering the project on time and within budget despite COVID-related challenges. Key improvements include enhanced public access to the waterfront, training for local vendors, redesigned ground transportation, and a new mega berth for Icon-class vessels. The port now accommodates six vessels simultaneously, with a record 29,316 passengers in a single day in December 2023. Non-cruise-related additions like a concert amphitheater, museum, and public event spaces further enrich the community. GPH’s engagement with local stakeholders ensured the project reflected Nassau's culture and needs, making it the largest cruise-related investment in the Caribbean.
